If you’re looking for a mountain cabin with luxury and chalked full of amenities, Castaway Cabin is for you. Located in Alleghany County, near the border of NC and VA, this luxury cabin offers privacy and ambiance, as well as its own pond, stocked with fish. There’s room for everyone, including the dog! This is the perfect mountain getaway you will arrive and not want to leave.
This mountain lodge is over 3000 square feet of cabin ambiance, with all the amenities of modern living, and then some. In the heart of this open floor plan you’ll find a dramatic vaulted wood ceiling, as well as a large flatscreen TV and a towering stone fireplace (gas-fueled, for your convenience). This impressive great room is open to both the kitchen and the dining room, providing the perfect flow for entertaining and family togetherness. The master bedroom is also conveniently located on the main level. It offers a king-sized bed, another TV and an en suite bathroom. After a day of hiking and outdoor adventure, you will enjoy the whirlpool jetted tub! There’s also direct access to a balcony, for your morning coffee.
The open-concept kitchen is equipped with track lighting, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker and everything else you need to feel at-home. It’s separated from the great room by a peninsula island that also serves as a bar, so you can cook while entertaining. The spacious dining room seats 6 (plus the bar). There’s also a half bath on this level.
The spaciousness of the main level is accented by a two-story opening to the loft where your friends and kids can enjoy their own space and privacy. There are two additional bedrooms upstairs, as well as a full bath and shower. The loft bedroom has a queen bed and two bunks and the upstairs second bedroom has a king bed with private balcony. Every bedroom has its own TV!
Before bedtime, however, most of your group is likely to spend time on the lower level, enjoying the enormous rec room. This fun space includes lots of comfy seating around TV #5, as well as games, darts, a pool table, bar seating and a small fireplace. There’s also a convenient bathroom and laundry room.
From the lower level, walk straight out to the patio and jump into your private hot tub! From the tub (open 365 days a year) you’ll take in a view of the pond, as well as the lovely landscaping all around you. This patio is another family entertainment spot, with a gas grill and a large dining table for dining al fresco. After dark, gather around the fire pit for conversation and star-gazing. You can also enjoy the view from the decks and balconies upstairs.

Experience the High Country
Castaway Lodge is located on the eastern end of Allegheny County, in the town of Ennice, near the Virginia border. From here you’re only 10 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway, as well as 10 minutes to Cumberland Knob, a lovely recreation area. Its Gully Creek Trail is a 2.5-mile hike following cascades of water and beautiful woodland scenery. The park has additional hiking trails as well.
From the Lodge you’re only 10 minutes away from trout fishing at the Little River, or 20 minutes from water adventures on the New River. In addition, you’re 20 minutes to Galax and Sparta. The small town of Sparta features shops, restaurants, live music and friendly people. Check out the popular Becca’s Backwoods Coffee, the Main Street Pizzeria, Italian-American fusion food at Crave, and the Muddy Creek Café and Music Hall. My family and I have rented and stayed at many different cabins and we all agree the “Castaway” was by far the best! We are a recluse family and after busy days doing touristy things, the cabin truly recharged our batteries. The online pictures of the property do not reflect how awesome the cabin is. All the home-like charm and the little extras was a great surprise to us. This is the first time where I actually wanted to cook while on vacation ?just so my family could have more time fishing, playing games and soaking in the hot tub.- Larry , Posted: 07/13/2024

Thoroughly enjoyable cabin. Plenty of things to do on the property. Trophy bass pond. Close to Blue Ridge Parkway and Mt. Airy. Dollar General within 5 mins. Hope to visit again.
